ebay has a durable medical equipment
I discovered recently that ebay has a durable medical equipment category.
It is buried under the following categories at www.ebay.com

I started looking every day at what is offered for sale and was pleasantly surprised that some families are listing unneeded equipment for the normal reasons of out grown, bought wrong item, an elderly family member either used very lightly or not at all before passing from this world.
I have a power chair and a lift equipped van and they work great . . . . But I also wanted the flexibility of driving with friends and family to a movie or restaurant etc and use their car. So I have been in the market for a light folding manual wheelchair
After a few days I found such a chair, it had several extras for high back head rest seating etc....and I ending up paying way under retail. Seller was glad to get it out of their house and I am now setup with a folding chair that can go into the trunk of friends and family.
Dealers are also listing power equipment, misc seating, head rests, scooters, stand aids and I was really surprised to see a device that could be used during an evacuation to get a wc user down stairs.
If you know of a family in need for pediatric equipment there are lots being listed.
As in most things its buyer beware but using ebays feedback rating system to get a feel for what your exposure might be.
The chair I bought retailed for $2,600 and I got it for $340 which included shipping. The chair was in new condition.
